Hataye no Gotoku

Post  Zura on Wed Aug 13, 2008 11:16 pm

This anime is about a 17 year old boy named Hayate, who's life completely sucks. His dad is an unemployed loser and his mom constantly invests their money in her dreams and never succeeds. So Hayate has been spending most of his life working so his family doesn't end up starving or gets kicked out of their apartment. One Christmas Eve, Hayate comes back home to find out that his parents took all of his hard earned money and have sold him to the mafia. Hayate manages to escape from the mafia and finds a young girl named Nagi who is the daughter of a very rich family. Hayate plans to kidnap Nagi so he can get some money from her family so he can pay off the debt his parents left him with. But for some reason, when Hayate tells Nagi that he is going to take her away, she thinks he is confessing his love to her. Later the mafia come back and find Hayate and decide to kidnap Nagi then Hayate realizes his mistake and goes to save Nagi from the mafia. Hayate succeeds but ends up horribly injured and instead of sending him to a hospital, Nagi decides to hire Hayate as her butler. And from then on the series is about Hayate's life as Nagi butler and how he plans to get enough money to pay for his parent's debt.

This is actually one of the funniest animes I have ever seen because it constantly breaks the 4th wall meaning that the characters are saying that they know they are in an anime series and it has constant references to other anime, manga, video games and other popular culture. The series runs for 50 episodes and also people who have watched and read the animes and mangas they reference, will be laughing their butts off.
